The Philadelphia Women's* Slavic Ensemble began in West Philly in 2011 as a few friends sharing simple Slavic folk songs, a cappella. Since then, we have grown into a community of singers of all skill level and background who celebrate the “chest voice”; a style of singing that stems from Slavic folk tradition. We choose songs from Eastern Europe that encourage creativity, boldness, and unapologetic self-expression. You can find us at all types of community events, usually with homemade flower crowns and a giant bottle of red wine.
